Kathy Jarvis - Professional StuntWoman

Every girl has it in them to be a Stunt Girl. Being a Stunt Girl is NOT about the clothes you wear, the car you drive, or the music you listen to. It is not about being reckless, careless or dangerous. Being a Stunt Girl comes from deep within. From a place where you are unafraid to express your true self regardless of what others will think about you. To be a true Stunt Girl you have to get to know yourself and be courageous enough to express yourself.

How to get to know yourself
1) Know that you can do and be anything,
2) Learn to give and receive from your heart.
3) Be unafraid to do the things that scare you the most.
4) Be conscious of your choices and how they affect you and those around you.

Being a Stunt Girl takes time, time to explore everything you can imagine, whether dancing or riding a dirt bike, doing gymnastics or playing football, quietly sitting or singing out loud. Stunt Girl's come in all shapes and sizes yet they all are gutsy, athletic and independent!

About me:
I grew up in Breckenridge Colorado, one of 4 children I was raised by a single mother who made less then $15,000 a year. Even though my mom did not have a lot of money and could not pay for the things I wanted to do, she encouraged me to find a way to do what I loved. I loved sports and loved skiing the most. In order to make my dream come true I started working as a young teen in a fast food restaurant. I worked hard and trained harder to become a talented ski racer. This work paid off, I received a College Scholarship.

After College I wanted to give back to the community and help kids get into sports. I development Youth Ski Programs, across the Western U.S. to help kids from all socio-economic backgrounds. It was the voice of one of my student's parents who had an epiphany (a sudden, intuitive perception), "that I was meant to become a Stuntwoman"!

Even though I never considered stunts and I did not know anyone who was a stunt person, I was curious. I found a way to meet the Stunt coordinator on a Disney Film being shot in Salt Lake City. This meeting landed me my first job in stunts Doubling The Leading Lady, Melora Hardin! My career as a Stuntwoman started in 1994 and is still going strong. Some of the leading ladies I have doubled for are; Kate Hudson, Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan, Anne Heche, Sarah Mason, Eva Amuri, Jessica Lange to name a few and even though I am more than my credits, you can check them out at IMDB

I recently enjoyed being the Stunt Coordinator and 2nd Unit Director for New Line's feature film "The Cusp." (Working with director Tim Iacofano from T.V. series 24).

My mother is my hero. She never told me I was incapable of doing something. She told me I could become whatever I could imagine. My mother did not have the time or the money to help me, so she always encouraged me to find my own way. My mother never discouraged me from pursuing my dreams even when it meant I could get hurt. Even now when I am heading off to work to be set on fire, or roll a fully flame engulfed vehicle, or crash a motorcycle, or jump off an 80 foot cliff or even to be thrown down a flight of stairs, my mother tells me to make sure I can get up tomorrow so I can do it again.

For this to happen I eat whole fresh food I practice yoga and I meditate daily and I always try to express myself from my heart. For me to be good at my job I ride dirt and street motorcycles, I ski and snowboard, I ride mountain bikes and I race my rally car on the National Rally circuit. I was the first women to race solo in the pro-truck class at the notorious Baja 1000 off road race. Check out my website femmefatalemotorsports
My wish for all of you is for you to expand your horizons and to pursue your dreams.
